The Association for Public Policy and Management (APPAM) and the American Society of Health Economists (ASHEcon) are pleased to announce that they have recently entered a strategic partnership. APPAM will assume management of all ASHEcon operations, including future research conferences. Both organizations will continue to maintain distinctly separate identities but administrative support for all ASHEcon activities will be provided by APPAM under the partnership agreement.
“ASHEcon is a well- respected organization dedicated to promoting excellence in health economics research and we are excited about the partnership,” stated APPAM Executive Director Tara Sheehan. “We have many members in common and our missions are quite similar. A partnership seemed like a natural progression and we are looking forward to many joint projects and initiatives that will highlight the work of both APPAM and ASHEcon’s members in the coming years.”
While both organizations will remain committed to their core missions and members, the partnership between the associations allows the groups to share outreach and development initiatives aimed at membership growth and collective resources. Under the partnership agreement, which begins this week, Professor Tony LoSasso, will remain as the Executive Director of ASHEcon, while Tara Sheehan will continue to serve as Executive Director of APPAM.
“I am thrilled that ASHEcon members will have the opportunity to interact with APPAM’s outstanding professional staff. Our members will benefit greatly from APPAM’s years of experience organizing high-quality, well-attended conferences,” remarked ASHEcon Executive Director Tony LoSasso. “This is truly a relationship that will take ASHEcon to the next level.”
Under the new partnership, the organizations will begin jointly preparing for their future conferences. APPAM’s Fall Research Conference will be held November 2 – 4, 2017 in Chicago, while ASHEcon’s next conference will be June 10 – 13, 2018 at Emory University in Atlanta. The new partnership will allow both organizations to develop many successful events together, thus engaging new audiences and expanding industry horizons.
