Associate or Full Professor (Ladder Rank, Ladder Rank/In Residence) – Health: Policy, Economics, or Services Research Faculty

The Department of Family Medicine and Public Health (FMPH) at the University of California, San Diego’s School of Medicine (http://fmph.ucsd.edu), is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and invites applications for one or more faculty positions in the area of health policy, health economics, or health services research. Applicants are sought with expertise in health policy as it relates to health behavior, health care systems, health insurance and health care costs, health outcomes, dissemination and implementation, regulatory science, and other areas. Individuals who have produced research that has demonstrably influenced either health policy or health care practice are encouraged to apply.

The Department offers teaching and student mentoring opportunities in the Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree program and the PhD in Public Health program administered jointly with San Diego State University. The Department has strong collaborative research programs facilitated by Centers of Excellence focused on Cardiovascular Epidemiology, Women’s Health, Cancer and Energetics, Tobacco Control, Health Behavior Change in Underserved Populations, Wireless and Population Health Systems, and Integrative Medicine. The Department also provides multiple opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in other School of Medicine departments and in the basic sciences, social sciences, and engineering departments across the UC San Diego campus. Research collaborations are also available at UC San Diego with the Institute for Public Health, Stein Institute for Research on Aging, Moores Cancer Center, Clinical and Translational Research Institute, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and Jacobs School of Engineering.

Candidates must have a PhD, MD, or other applicable doctoral degree, with a track record in obtaining NIH (or comparable) funding and high productivity with regards to peer-reviewed publications. Rank and series of appointment will be based on skills and qualifications of the candidate. The Department is interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by participating in teaching, research, and service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor rank. Series will include 100% Ladder Rank or 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
